Brandons Xbox in the aftermath (Credit: @Jonzey8828 via X)

When Brandon Jones left his local GameStop in his hometown in Southern Utah in the United States having purchased his brand-new Xbox Series S, he would have been excited to play and experience his new console and new games.

I’m sure he expected his life to change, in a small, fun way, with his new console, but this console would have a huge impact on his life.

While riding his bike home from the store, Brandon was struck by a truck. After the initial impact Brandon initially managed to stay above the steel bumper of the truck but eventually, he was dragged under as the truck continued to drive, having not seen Brandon.

He was slammed against the ground and should have died, but the depth of the Xbox in his backpack saved his head from fully colliding with the concrete road, surely saving his life.

With the truck showing no signs of stopping, Brandon somehow did not panic, speaking on what he did next, he said: “I wasn’t going to get shredded beneath the truck, so I used my left leg to attempt to slow the truck.

“At this point my bike wedged my right leg so I couldn’t move it anywhere”

Next thing he knew his backpack was hanging on his left shoulder and it slammed against the curb, and he soon followed, he felt some momentary relief but this, and Brandon were soon crushed by front end of the truck, with his Xbox once again taking the initial brunt. Brandon was dragged 12 feet before the truck finally stopped and an ambulance was phoned.

His Xbox stopped his head from hitting the road and his ribs from being completely shattered by the second impact of the truck. Brandon survived, with amazingly only a single metatarsal bone in his foot and some severe road rash, an absolute miracle considering the impact his body took.

Amazingly it wasn’t just Brandon who escaped relatively unscathed, his Xbox, despite some bashes, still started up in his hospital room and he could finally, relax and play.

Since the incident Brandon has been sent a brand-new Xbox by the company themselves and also received the same offer from GameStop of a free replacement and can now finally play in peace and really enjoy the system that saved his life.
